Mahesh Ravi is an award-winning design evangelist, academician, author and a filmmaker and has laid hands on several other walks of the creative domain. Mahesh was interested in visual design from his childhood. Being an aficionado multimedia enthusiast, he converted his passion to profession and worked on the combinations of analogue and digital media, combining film with an aspect of design, art with music and photography with typography.
After starting his career as a Media Specialist in AOL (America Online), Mahesh embarked upon a career as a full-time Creative Professional, He was the winner of LDM International Design Contest, LA, three times in a row. He was also mentioned in the “20 upcoming digital artists” by artzolo during the beginning of his career.
Holder of masters in multimedia from university of Wollongong and a masters in information technology, Mahesh is currently the Chief Academic Officer of Wiztoonz Academy of Media & Design. He is also supports learners at ADPList and the NGO, Dialogues with Pixels. Many of his design papers are used as course materials in several universities around the world including the University of Alberta. Mahesh has had the honour of mentoring some of the finest talents in the field, garnering accolades for his contributions to their professional development.
Mahesh Ravi is also the founder of a educational initiative – Crawlmat, a learning model which uses a living and expanding brain map of the learner’s connected knowledge. Crawlmat was widely appreciated by mentors and students for its engaging and dynamic ability to make learning immersive.
Mahesh, author of several books including Figures of Design, The handbook of Design, MumoLupa(Malayalam), and the upcoming essay compilation- Design & Blah, believes in transforming Creativity, Design and Productivity into tangible forms of literature that will help upcoming generations. His recent book “Figures of Design” is a hand-picked compilation celebrating the visionaries who have shaped the aesthetic landscape across the globe.
Also an avid short filmmaker, Mahesh has directed several short films, which were recognized as international entries and credited in the film festival circuit. One of his much-appreciated Film projects is Samsara, a 9-minute meta-fictional chamber film.
Originally from Kerala, Mahesh is currently residing in Bangalore, India with his family.
Graduating with a Masters in Multimedia Design from his alma mater, University of Wollongong, Mahesh Ravi has been a design practitioner, conceptual photographer and an academician ever since. His works has been recognized and published by national and international domains.
