“Studio ghibli is everywhere. Its a mere filter now. Hayako Miyazaki spent a lot of years finessing this technique”…. But wait,

Why are we getting angry about the whole thing. This is something that technology offers now— and people are using it for the time being as they always did. They are not calling themselves artists, they are not insulting the hardwork behind original works— they are just seeing their ordinary pictures in this style and are excited about it. 5 years back, People who could illustrate—spent a couple of hours and recreated the same style (that was also not original). Now technology does it a lot more faster and easier.
“Hayako Miyazaki spent a lot of years finessing this technique”…. Yes yes!! I get it, but so did Lumière brothers when they created the first motion picture, Emil Cohl when they made the first cartoon film and Akira Kurosawa when he created the first multi-narrative film.
Now think about where we are with the above 3 innovations. Crappy mobile-shot reels are ruling the internet; Anyone with a pirated copy of adobe animate is “disney”; and every other filmmaker has over-done multiple narratives to its demise.
Don’t get psuedo—emotional about the whole deal; we all are standing on someone else’s grave. Let people have some fun. They are not ruining anything— you are!
Think about the countless remakes of The God Father, every pinterest design you copied and videos you are posting with someone else’s music.
A true artist cannot be destroyed, they can just be imitated while the artist moves forward to invent something new.
